There are some great ways to capitalize on the Pokémon Go craze. For mothers and daughters looking to find business opportunities, this is a great one. Here are some ideas on how you can get in on the craze and share possibilities with local business owners.
1. Pokémon Go is a great way to get out and get moving. There’s a reason why millions of players jumped on the craze the minute it came out. It’s challenging. It’s fun. It’s active. It’s an app that encourages you to find Pokémon monsters. The different thing about this app though is that it integrates with your smartphone’s GPS. So to find monsters, you have to go outside and start walking. You’ll find them in parks, at restaurants, in theaters…just about anywhere a new character may show up to be caught.
Mothers and daughters will love exploring their neighborhoods to find new monsters. It’s a great way to get some exercise and have a great time in the summer air. It’s also a great bonding activity where you can discuss just about anything. Who knows? You might get particularly lucky and find a rare Pokémon character to add to your collection.
2. It’s also a great opportunity to talk to local store owners. Inform them on why getting involved can be a money-making endeavor. Check and see if a particular store is lucky enough to be by a gym or a PokéStop.
If they aren’t then talk to the owners about how to do remotes. Let’s say one is 2 blocks away from their business. Tell them that groups of people are congregating there. All they need to do is create their own marketing. Let’s say they own a restaurant and the gym is 3 blocks away. Tell them to pack up some to-go meals with flyers and head down. Or, if they have a food truck for catering, all the better. They can easily load up the truck and sell their food at a discount.
3. If a business owners already sees the marketing benefits of Pokémon, then tell them about hosting a Pokémon Go party. They can offer special promos to players, like Groupon or Gilt, but they also can create promos.
Let’s say they use a lure. This is a 30-minute long window when Pokémon will come to their store location. Yes- lures cost, but the ROI is fantastic. Just $50-worth of lures returns 42-hours’ worth of time when people are coming into their establishment to catch monsters.
Combining lures with other specials is a great marketing opportunity. For example, let’s say a retail store owner puts out a lure at 5:30pm and from 5:30pm-6pm they offer 15% off to all visitors. This not only escalates foot-traffic to their store, but it pushes sales up. Considering that even with lures Pokémon don’t show up automatically (you have to wait for them) visitors will be staying for a while. Likely- they’ll be shopping!
As a Mom and Daughter Inc team, you have a HUGE opportunity to teach people how to do the marketing on Pokemon. Or doing the marketing for them. Talk to a few store owners first and find out what their needs are. You can opt to make money teaching people how to set up the lures or other specials. Or you can promote yourself as a Pokemon Go marketer and create your own “packages”. For example, an easy one to start with is “Set up your Pokemon lure and drive in new visitors”. What business owner of a retail store doesn’t want new foot traffic?
Wishing you the best on capturing this craze!
