Hello, My name is Lena Ford and I am the C.E.O of Positively Lena, LLC
Tell us about your business.
I design custom accessories for teen and adults. My accessories include key chains, bag chains, bookmarks and jewelry that include a positive message or a quote. The mission of Positively Lena is to promote and remind individuals to always have positive thoughts and love themselves.
How did you get the original idea?
The original idea came from conversations that I had with my mom about school and things going on in the world. There was so much negativity going on with bullying and kids harming themselves. My family has always taught me to keep a positive attitude and always love myself. Two things that I am passionate about are fashion and art. I wanted to find a way to use my passion and share these positive messages with the world.

What are your favorite things about being young, female and entrepreneurial?
I love the fact that I can help people and make a difference in the world. You can do anything you set your mind to and I believe that I can use my voice to make change in society. I love being an entrepreneur and showing other girls and even adults that you can create your own path in life.
Any disadvantages that you’ve faced?
The only disadvantage is perhaps people not taking me seriously at first. After I have explained to them my business they are usually proud and excited to work with me or buy my products.

Any advice for young female entrepreneurs who are still just planning or thinking about starting a business?
Do your research on what your business idea. Really understand why would people want your product or service. Make sure it’s something you are passionate about so that it will always be fun for you. Make sure you have a good support system. The biggest thing is to remember that you are your brand. Be careful about what you post on social media. People who you might want to work with you, may decide not to, if you have crazy or disrespectful things on your page.
