Nigerian-American Idara Otu is a name that you won’t soon forget. This is one of those interviews that spoke to me on many levels! There are nuggets of inspiration AND ideas that you can use to help you start and grow your business.
Idara is the founder of the charity called Let Girls Read, Run, Grow, which focuses on encouraging young African girls that they can do it all through education, athletics, and entrepreneurship. From this, her vision to give back has only expanded, starting with her newly published bookThe Miraculous Masquerade: An Ekpe Harvest Celebration Tale.
The book is a vision of being truly entrepreneurial. Rather than relying on 100% donations, Idara wants to introduce her culture to a broader group, and also raise money for the school. So don’t be shy and look at purchasing either the ebook or the soon-to-be-published hardcover.

One of Idara’s life-long goals was fulfilled when she opened an all-girl primary school in her home country, Nigeria. The goal of the school is to provide girls with the education they deserve while simultaneously building a legacy.
But unlike traditional schools which often only focus on academics, Let Read, Run, Grow ties three facets together – entrepreneurship, athletics AND education.
I can’t wait to hear about the next project that Idara releases! It’s a cocoa line mentioned in the book. It is the next step in her goal to fund the school for a more sustainable and secure future!
