Tell me your name and your business name.
My name is Hailey Fields and I’m the C.E.O. and Creative Director of Hailey Kisses and the Non-profit Founder of Covered By The Blood, Inc.
What does your business do?
My business Hailey Kisses is a cosmetic lip line that sells different types of lip glosses and liquid lipsticks. Including- Luminous glosses, Glosses, Liquid lipstick, Matte liquid lipsticks, Metallic matte liquid lipsticks, Mood lipsticks and Vitamin-C-lip treatment. My non-profit is a 501c3 that spread awareness for Sickle Cell Anemia.
How did you get your original idea?
I got the idea to start Hailey kisses by receiving news from my doctor. My doctor told me I wouldn’t be taller than 5’2 and that’s bad news to me because I’m a model and an actress, and to be a runway model you have to be at least 5’6 and taller to do runway. So, I was thinking to myself I need a backup plan because I never know if acting will always workout. And I thought about having my own business so I did the research and I came up with a cosmetic lip line because I love makeup and getting my makeup done since I been modeling and acting since I was 5 years old. I decided to pursue this idea and told my mom about it and she said I had to prove it to her since I do so many activities and then stop them and move on to another one and this one would cost a lot of money and dedication. After hearing that, I went to the beauty supply and got all the supplies to make lip gloss. My mom saw that I was serious about this and took me to a manufacturer and got all of my colors match that I created and Hailey Kisses came about. My non-profit Covered By The Blood, Inc came about through witnessing my Grandmother struggle and suffer through life with the fatal disease. This made me want to help bring awareness and help others that are struggling with this disease.

What are your favorite things about being young, female, and entrepreneurial?
My favorite thing about being young in this line of work is shocking older people when I attend an event and hear them saying I want to be like you when I grow up. As well as grasping all of this information and experience at a young age so that I’m prepared when I’m an adult. Being a female and doing this just proves that a woman can be just as successful as a man being a C.E.O. Lastly, I like not having a boss to answer to and being able to make my own money.
Any disadvantages that you’ve faced?
I have faced disadvantages since having my own business, such as people might not taking me serious or don’t hold me or my products on a higher scale because I’m not an adult and they think it’s cute and don’t think twice about it. The other disadvantage I face is not being able to socialize with friends sometimes because I have work to do for my business.
Any advice for young entrepreneurs who are still just planning or thinking about starting a business?
The advice that I would give to upcoming young entrepreneurs are: Dream big because the bigger you dream the bigger the reality. As well as have patience because it takes a lot of work before you become successful and make a profit.
What’s next?
Hailey has a passion for spreading awareness for Sickle Cell Anemia due to her Grandmother being a Sickle Cell Warrior for 64 years. Therefore, Hailey headed the establishment of the non-profit Covered By The Blood, Inc in the year 2017 and holds a 501c3 status. This non-profit was formed to increase awareness and educate others on the terminal disease Sickle Cell. This organization is also of great importance to the family and Hailey because it has greatly impacted her by watching the struggles of her grandmother and knowing she can’t help to relieve it. Therefore, Hailey want to reach as many people as possible especially the African American community because they are affected the most.
